After two long years, 17-year-old tennis sensation Juan David
Ramirez is finally getting the attention—and help—he needs to possibly
challenge the best players in the world.
Tennis giant Wilson
has sponsored the Colombia-born Ramirez, who is ranked number one in Qatar. The
Wilson sponsorship was managed by Sports Corner,
an active participant in helping young up-and-coming sports talents reach their
potential, as well as provide quality sports shoes, apparel, accessories and
equipment to people in Qatar. Sports Corner stores carry a wide range of Wilson
products for the needs of both professional players and tennis enthusiasts
alike. Under the agreement, Ramirez was
provided with Wilson tennis racquets and all other required accessories.
At 16 years old, Ramirez was number two in Colombia’s tennis
rankings and 16th in South America. He also won several tournaments
in Qatar, leading to him being on top of the standings.
Currently, Ramirez, who dreams of turning pro one day, is
practicing with the Qatar U-12 National Team, under the Qatar Tennis
Federation, which is coached by his father. The amiable teen is planning to
join international tournaments this season not only to further sharpen his
skills but to receive his first points to join the ATP World Rankings. He is
also targeting to be part of the Top 500 juniors in the ITF rankings as well as
keeping his top rank in Qatar.
Ramirez goals seem lofty, but with his incredible skill
coupled with his perseverance, fighting spirit and humility, it may only be a
matter of time before Ramirez challenges for the top spot in the world tennis
Wilson and Sports Corner wishes
Ramirez the best of luck as he reaches for his dream. Make us all proud, Juan!
